A successful dinner party relies on four key ingredients: good food, great drink, stellar friends and interesting conversation.
His ingredients for the perfect dinner party are simple. “It has nothing to do with food,” he laughs. “It’s scent, it’s lighting and it’s music. If you have those three things in place you can get takeaway and it will be a good night.” “It’s a really beautiful, simple pasta dish. It’s got zucchini, cheese and that’s about it. You can also deep fry some slices of zucchini so you’ve got some crispy, crunchy bits on top. It’s just a very abundant, very fresh, spring dish.”“What I want to teach people is the art of living well, whether that’s through food, or through travel, or just through their own homes,” he says.
“I love my dinner parties to be about everyone,” he says. “We’ll do a bring-a-dish kind of moment where I’ll put on some nibbles and a starter and then someone else will arrange a salad, a main, and then someone will definitely bring dessert because that is not my forte.” “I hate it when my parents come for dinner,” he laughs. “They’ll be like ‘can we turn the light on’ and I’m like, absolutely not, the lamps are enough. Get your phone torch out if you need to see something.”
Marking milestones is something she has learnt to embrace, and while she loves treating herself to the occasional piece of jewellery, her preference is to mark special moments over dinner with friends and family. “Celebrating successes, whether big or small, is something I’ve started practising more,” she says. “And the most meaningful celebrations are with those closest to my heart.”
