Turkish authorities arrested a suspected Islamic State member they say was planning an attack at the Gallipoli dawn service, where hundreds of Australians and New Zealanders gather each year.

Opposition leader Bill Shorten has described reports of a planned attack at the Gallipoli peninsula as ‘deeply concerning’.

He says ‘this world should have no tolerance for violent extremism’ and ‘what we can’t let it do is discourage the marvelous tradition of Australians travelling to battlefields where Australians have fallen in previous conflicts’. Mr Shorten says Australians should 'be proud of our identity, proud of our history, and continue to learn about sacrifice' despite the world being 'a sometimes dangerous place'.

Could this bloke possibly be any less sincere

from the prick who if elected whats to double our Moslem refugee intake, every terror raid by Feds are on Moslem REFUGEES!

Deeply concerning. Seriously. Its the oldest form of warfare in history. Yet terrorism was worse in the 70s and 80s but now we have social media to instill fear and change laws.

The offender was a Syrian 'refugee' of course, of which Bill want's to at least double the intake of now that the caliphate has been defeated..

So Bill, does this still mean Labor stands shoulder to shoulder with the community you are deeply concerned about now? This, as well as other statements you have made since the start of your campaign are nothing but confusing. Good work, you're not believable, never will be.

It’s deeply concerning that it’s completely obvious Australians would be targeted at Gallipoli but the pathetically desperate Coalition government deliberately allowed Australians to be put in harms way as a political distraction from their corruption incompetence and failures

And you want to let more into the country? billshortenmp 😡

Cannot believe a word you regurgitate
