A pilot has avoided injury after bringing his light plane down in a paddock near Bathurst , NSW . The emergency landing unfolded adjacent to the Great Western Hwy about 5.50pm on Friday. The pilot was the sole person onboard and wasn’t injured despite the less-than-ideal landing location, police told 7NEWS.com.au. The plane is believed to be a small commercial aircraft. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said the incident was reported on Friday. The safety body is currently investigating.
Emergency services were already in the area following a two-car crash in Kirkconnell which backed up traffic on the highway. Authorities have not suggested the incidents are linked
