"I'm getting more and more comfortable with the car, which is much better than it was at the start of the year. It's been amazing for me." Verstappen was in a league of his own in a race that began with a rolling start in wet conditions and needed a safety car intervention after Fernando Alonso spun out mid-race.

In the race itself, pole-sitter Verstappen fell behind Piastri after the Australian had boxed from wet tyres to intermediate rubber a lap earlier than the Dutchman.
