Petrol prices set to soar for Sydney siders for June long weekend , with motorists urged to do their research before filling up
The insurance giant said despite Sydney's wholesale price for regular unleaded falling to 171.1 cents per litre, motorists forked out 181 cents per litre on average at the pump last week. The current average price for diesel in Sydney is 190.1 cents per litre, while the wholesale cost is 176.3 cents per litre.
NRMA spokesperson Peter Khoury claimed a shift in the price cycles in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne meant more service stations were charging top dollar at the peak of the cycles. Speaking to SkyNews.com.au, Mr Khoury encouraged motorists to shop around for the cheapest petrol prices this weekend, noting costs can vary depending on location.
Perth on the other hand has a far more consistent seven-day price cycle, with the cheapest day of the week being Tuesday.
