Peter FitzSimons negotiated Brittany Higgins’ book deal

columnist and bestselling author Peter FitzSimons negotiated a $325,000 advance for rape complainant Brittany Higgins to write a book, a court has been told.

Lehrmann denies a charge of having sex with Higgins without her consent and his defence says he did not have sex with Higgins at all.On Friday, defence barrister Steven Whybrow questioned Higgins about the timing and nature of her contact with the media in early 2021, before she went public with her account of her alleged rape via media reports aired in February that year.

“On the 16th of March 2021 you received confirmation from Peter FitzSimons and Lisa Wilkinson that a publisher was interested in publishing your account,” Whybrow said.Advertisement “You indicated, ‘I’m blown away, I can absolutely do this ... it sounds presumptuous to say but I have had the outline chapters planned for a ... month or so’“.
