A woman who recently returned to Perth from NSW has been fitted with an electronic ankle tracking device after allegedly breaching COVID-19 quarantine restrictions.
She had been allowed to enter WA on 1 September and was ordered to self-isolate alone at her home for 14 days.The woman was issued with a $1000 fine and moved to a Perth quarantine hotel.But after consideration of the circumstances of the woman's alleged breach the state emergency coordinator determined it was necessary to monitor her location during the quarantine period, police said in a statement on Saturday.
WA Health reported no new virus cases on Saturday leaving the state's total of diagnosed infections since the start of the pandemic at 659.Meanwhile, a West Australian nurse infected with COVID-19 while helping in Victoria's coronavirus-ravaged aged care sector said she always wore a mask and doesn't know how she contracted the illness.Renee Freeman, 44, travelled to Melbourne to help but instead became a patient.

Fair call. If she went to the shops and happened to infect my mother while at Woolworths, who then died purely from this person's selfishness, I'd want more than an ankle bracelet on her.

There's a guy living near my street who tried to snatch a little girl from MacDonalds and the magistrate gave him bail. He doesn't have an ankle monitor and is free to roam in daylight hours. If we're going down this road perhaps we should be monitoring him. Just a thought!
If this is what’s happening in WA, it gives me no hope that the rest of Australia can achieve a normal future!
I'd VOLUNTARILY wear an ankle tracking device if the WA government would only allow WA residents to return home. As it, we're shut out. WA is the only locality in the world which refuses entry to returning residents. 👎
This is obscene. What right do police have to presume she won't comply with laws? This is police, for paranoia reasons, going beyond the surveillance the public wants and expects them to be allowed to do.
