Perth City councillor accused of electoral fraud, charged over allegedly forged records

A former Perth City councillor has been charged with a series of criminal offences following a police investigation into misconduct at the council.

Officers from the WA Police Financial Crimes Division have accused the unnamed 54-year-old man from East Perth of electoral fraud. Police say the man used a sham lease at an East Perth property to enrol electors who would not have otherwise been eligible to vote in the local council election.He has also been charged with three counts of gaining a benefit by fraud after he allegedly made false allowance claims.
