A man is fighting for life and three others are injured after a serious crash on a road in Melbourne ’s northwest. The collision — between a white ute, and two Isuzu trucks — happened just after 7am on Wednesday on Oaklands Rd in Oaklands Junction. Firefighters said three vehicles were involved in the collision and four people were trapped. They were all freed from the vehicles and the man driving the ute was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The man driving one of the trucks was seriously injured and his passenger was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver of the other truck is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Victoria Police and paramedics are also on the scene. Oaklands Rd remains closed in both directions between Craigieburn Rd and Somerton Rd and drivers have been urged to avoid the area. They can use Mickleham Rd or Sunbury Rd as alternatives.
