Paul Pisasale committed to stand trial for sexual assault, perjury

It can now be revealed disgraced former Ipswich mayor Paul Pisasale is facing two charges of sexual assault.

The charges can be disclosed after the 68-year-old consented to being committed to stand trial in the District Count over the alleged offences at Ipswich in December 2016.A committal hearing is underway at the Brisbane Magistrates Court relating to a raft of charges including official corruption and fraud.

Pisasale's lawyer told the court his client accepted there was a"prima facie" case concerning the perjury charge and consented to it being sent to trial in the District Court. When asked if he wished to say anything in response, the 68-year-old replied,"No thank you, your honour".
