Couples are pleading for more time to enter Australia before their $7000 visas are cancelled. niltiac

The federal government announced last week special accommodations for visitors, working holiday makers, seasonal workers, temporary visa workers and prospective marriage visa holders.

This masthead has details of several couples where one partner holds a migrant partner visa and is struggling to reach Australia before the visa expires.Australian citizen Jonathan Powell and his Brazilian partner Luciana de Morais. Luciana has a 309 migrant partner visa, which cost more than $7000, but she has been unable to get a flight to Australia during the coronavirus pandemic and the visa will expire in February.

Ms de Morais has booked flights with LatAm - now refunded - and Emirates and has been bumped off six flights. She is on stand-by for several flights to make it to Australia before her visa lapses in February.

Australian Zack Dwyer and South African Kate Leff with their daughter are living in Thailand and must travel to Australia to activate Ms Leff's migrant partner visa.
