Parasite takes a second bite at the local box office

The result is astonishing given the genre-busting film from South Korea opened in June 2019 and became available on DVD and Blu-Ray and to stream or download online on February 4.won best picture, best director, best international feature film and best original screenplay at the 92nd Academy Awards. It is the first non-English-language film to win best picture, while director Bong Joon-ho became the first person to win four categories for the one film in Oscars history.

It is also the highest-grossing film ever at Sydney's Dendy Newtown, having taken $386,000 to date.was showing on 55 Australian screens before the Oscars. That figure has since risen to 113 and will this week expand to 142.

A Madman spokesman added it was the first time one of its titles had been in cinemas and home entertainment platforms at the same time, and thus the first time it had had a film at the top of the digital downloads chart while also cracking the box office top 10.
