Israeli police responded to the protest by firing gas bombs and stun grenades at demonstrators to limit the violence. Palestinian militants have fired a barrage of mortar shells across the border with Israel in retaliation to hundreds of air strikes targeting Hamas' militant infrastructure.
There had been a brief pause in violence overnight allowing the UN to send a small fuel convoy into Gaza. The UN says more than 52,000 Palestinians have been displaced and 450 buildings destroyed or damaged and Amnesty International suggests some Israeli airstrikes may amount to war crimes.

For the last seven decades, the Palestinian _Israeli conflict has not been resolved. Israel should understand that there is no stability in the region, unless 'the two state solution' is implemented.
