Queensland Deputy Premier Steven Miles says the Palaszczuk government is working on a number of initiatives to ensure there is sufficient housing supply to address the population surge in the state. “The most important is a new growth area delivery team,” he said.

“That will be the state planner working with Economic Development Queensland to deliver new growth areas to make up for the supply that has been taken in the rush to particular home and land packages caused by the successful HomeBuilder program. “It’s incredibly important that we ensure that there is affordable housing in the south east market and some of the surge in population movements, this 88 per cent net migration to Queensland couldn’t have been predicted.
