A Perth couple is jubilant at their six-year-old adopted daughter being given a visa after her first two applications were refused. However, they say their family paid a 'huge price' as it waited for years to reunite with their daughter.

Madhvi Bhatnagar is flying out to India on Wednesday where she has spent nearly three years out of the last six – since she married Vineet Sharma. Unlike any of her previous visits, this one will be short - just under a week. She will be back next week with the couple’s adopted daughter Dhruvita.

Though the couple obtained a court order in India confirming the adoption, they had to grapple with bureaucratic red tape at nearly every step. The couple lived separately for over a year in order to meet the requirements for the adoption visa, one of which is that one of the adoptive parents has to live with the adopted child for 12 months immediately before lodging the application. While Ms Bhatnagar had spent 15 months in India, the visa application was refused on the basis that she had been overseas only nine months out of the 12 immediately before lodging the application.

The Department of Home Affairs said the requirement of 12-month overseas stay exists to ensure people don’t circumvent the rules.

Watch them scam their way in

Yes they should have been above the law, I agree. But the leftists do have a plan - win elections by importing voters. Guess who this family is going to vote for - the looney left who promises to import all their country to Australia OR with rational politicians. I really wonder.
