Adam Bandt is under fire after it was revealed the Greens leader charged taxpayers almost $1 million in expenses in 2022 despite his party’s hard-left policies.

Former Speaker of the House Bronwyn Bishop has slammed climate crusader Adam Bandt after the Greens leader charged taxpayers about a million dollars in expenses in a single year, including $23,000 on two private jet flights.

Perhaps most surprising were Mr Bandt’s decisions to spend $23,000 on two gas-guzzling private jet flights and claim another $12,000 on a government-provided vehicle and petrol allowance. In August, Mr Bandt encouraged Australians to embrace"civil disobedience" and slammed the major parties on their climate inaction.

Mr Bandt has so far refused to explain why he chartered a $15,000 private plane between Canberra and Brisbane to attend his party’s election campaign launch despite the taxpayer being forced to pick up the tab. Ms Bishop served as speaker during the Abbott government but resigned in 2015 after controversially opting to charge the taxpayer for a helicopter flight from Melbourne to Geelong instead of travelling via car.
