Ms Lei was body blocked as she attempted to report on a joint press conference between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and visiting Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Monday, with the journalist revealing on Tuesday she was later denied entry to another media event. Picture: NCA NewsWire/Martin Ollman "That main committee room... it's actually the citadel of our democratic scrutiny, parliamentary scrutiny of the executive. And to have in that room that body blocking occurring. I thought it was disgraceful. It was appalling.

The former home affairs secretary then moved to call out commentary which had attempted to write off the body blocking as a product of"different political values", declaring Chinese officials should have been made to understand Australia's clear stance on press freedom. Before the Chinese delegation had left Australia, the Prime Minister pedalled the lines slammed by Mr Pezzullo.
