Opposition leader Peter Dutton welcomed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s visit to Alice Springs but called on the government to act “urgently” to help solve the crime wave plaguing the town.

Sky News host Andrew Bolt has clashed with Opposition leader Peter Dutton over the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, questioning why the Liberal leader does not oppose it on “principle”.“Nobody is in favour of racism in the Liberal Party and if they are they don’t have a place in our party,” Mr Dutton said.

He said the Liberal Party is putting “appropriate pressure” on the government to release more information on the Voice to Parliament. “I think by the way in which we have entered this debate, as I say in a respectful way, we have said on behalf of millions of Australians, who may not be as adamant in their position as you are.

Dutton has ‘landed a few blows’ on issue of Voice to ParliamentOpposition Leader Peter Dutton has “landed a few blows” in the last few days on the issue of the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says. Polling says otherwise. His history of racial dogwhistling during elections is well noted. Ole PeterDutton_MP although he has good intentions within his beliefs I assume, & with all respects has no qualities nor the face to be a leader of the opposition. Background & his voice itself is not appealing. People like sincerity not direct opinionated diatribe.
