Opinion: Schools could reopen now, but if educators prefer to stick with the agreed timetable, then the pubs and hairdressers and the rest should wait until mid-November | niltiac

Speaking of mental health, what about the wellbeing of working parents trying to juggle remote learning and their own paid jobs?

I would like nothing better. My 10-year-old twins are resilient and lucky to have each other, but they would be so much better off at school. Premier Gladys Berejiklian was clear on Friday that the dates for school opening wouldn’t change because schools needed certainty and the ability to plan. to check-in assessments to identify learning gaps. The staggered return may help schools bed down their COVID-safe policies and teachers deal with the emotional fallout of the prolonged lockdown by settling in smaller groups of students at a time.

Granted, that’s unlikely in Greater Sydney before October 25, but it’s literally just happened in vast tracts of regional NSW. Schools in areas like the north coast, Riverina and far-western NSW were told on Thursday to reopen Monday.

niltiac Because the teachers don’t want to go back. Ask the teachers union

niltiac They're either safe or they aren't, come arbitrary date isn't going to change that, if they're safe open up immediately.

niltiac A hell of a lot of teachers (not all) are ready to go back including myself. Meanwhile, schools will get busier with staff in other areas going back to work.

niltiac We shouldn’t all suffer just because educators want to stick to the original plan. If schools are safe now, they’re safe.

niltiac Tha has to be the most stupid comment made for a long time. There MANY more children in a school than. in hairdresser. Still no one should be going anywhere while there are so many cases. Not even to the beach. Sydney people are appearing very self indulgent .

niltiac Open everything now!

niltiac How would it be safe for the kids to go back to school? They are not currently protected.

niltiac stop trying to throw our children under a bus Conservative media is a big part of the problem in Australia insiders COVID19nsw auspoI

niltiac How about we just stop this scam all together and everybody just go back to living their own lives?

niltiac The author misses the point that the vaccines have only recently become available for children aged 12+. The vaccination rates for adults who will be attending and working in pubs etc will be much higher by mid October than for children.

niltiac Why? Just because schools are seen as more moral than pubs?

niltiac Why are you showing the picture with young girls legs in short skirts? Perverts.
