Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Brisbane's famous Gabba stadium will be demolished and completely rebuilt. 9News

The city's Cross River Rail will also be linked with the Brisbane metro, a transport development Ms Palaszczuk said was "absolutely necessary" for the growing population in south-east Queensland."It will create a more liveable region, a more connected region, a region with more jobs," Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner said.

A centrepiece in the pipeline of projects will be the new flagship Woolloongabba Brisbane Metro station, which will give Olympics fans access to the stadium and act as a major interchange between the South East Busway and Cross River Rail. The Gabba station would be "enormously important" for commuters well beyond the Olympics, Ms Palaszczuk said.In other large-scale transport upgrades, a new $190.5 million green bridge will connect Kangaroo Point to the CBD, and $41 million has been committed to upgrading the North Stradbroke Island ferry terminal.

Tens of millions of dollars will be invested in roads on the Brisbane Valley Highway and new housing in Toowoomba.Earlier, Ms Palaszczuk confirmed the Gold Coast will host The Logies on June 19, following a two-year hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic.

If Briabane has more open spaces a new stadium should come up there..why demolish an existing one
