A Perth rideshare driver has been found not guilty of indecently assaulting a female passenger who accused him of repeatedly touching her during a journey from her southern suburbs home to Northbridge. The woman sobbed while testifying from a separate court roomOotamcoomar Dhurumsing, 52, had been on trial in the Perth Magistrates Court for the past two days on four charges of indecent assault.
The court heard she sent text messages to her boyfriend telling him she was being "touched" but she said she did not answer his repeated phone calls because she was too scared. He denied asking the woman inappropriate questions but he said he told her she was a "beautiful girl". However in his evidence, Mr Dhurumsing said the woman chose to get in the front seat after he said she could sit wherever she wanted.Magistrate 'required to acquit'
As I said on yesterday post. Would you get in a car with a stranger? Most likely not and more so with women. That is what your doing with these ride shares. Yes taxis over charge and try and cheat you by going the long way. But at least they regulated and by law fitted with video
Cameras compulsory in Taxis. Ride share, nope.
Why did and 9NewsPerth air the segment yesterday? If the victim lied then this persons life has been destroyed.
Another case of one persons word against another (ie: accusation with no physical proof) becoming the publics business.
