NZ reports record COVID numbers

The rise in case numbers comes after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Friday announced an extension to the nation-wide lockdown until Tuesday, August 31.

The lockdown was due to be lifted at midnight last night, however, health authorities remained concerned about the number of cases popping up. There are now a total of 429 cases linked to the latest outbreak - with 415 identified in Auckland and 14 in Wellington. The Ministry of Health confirmed 376 cases had been epidemiologically linked to another case or sub-cluster, while 53 remained under investigation.

So much for jacindaardern strategy. Lock the country down for 1 case . Lockdowns don't work . I wonder when the penny will roll in. 🤔
