New Zealand will drastically ease restrictions from Tuesday as the government confirms there are no active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

08/06/2020 The final case, a woman in her 50s, has recovered from the disease. It is the first time since February 28th that New Zealand has been COVID-19 free.

From Tuesday, all current rules and restrictions will be lifted barring the country’s borders, which will remain closed. “Moving to level one is the dividend for our hard work,” New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said when announcing the lifting of restrictions to reporters on Monday. The Prime Minister said her phase of the recovery effort “will focus on jobs”.
