NSW Treasurer refuses to say if Moore Park stadium will meet budget

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has refused to say whether the NSW government will be able to build its desired 45,000-seat stadium at Moore Park within its $729 million project budget.for hiring a developer to construct the venue to replace Allianz Stadium, as negotiations continued with two bidders for the building rights.

Construction firms Multiplex and John Holland have been competing for the building contract, with the government last month saying it would announce the successful company in "coming weeks". The government says the cost to demolish the Moore Park stadium was $36.3 million, which left nearly $693 million for the rebuild. The project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2022.

Mr Perrottet said the government would "have something to say in relation to our stadium policy shortly". "We are very confident that our stadiums will be delivered on time and at the end of it the people of this state will have the best sporting infrastructure not just in the country, but in the world," he said.
