NSW records more than 13,000 COVID-19 cases, seven deaths | daniellamariewh

NSW has recorded more than 13,000 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths from the virus, as authorities brace for a predicted surge in infections next month.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard says early modelling provided to the ministry suggests cases will double by April.In the 24 hours to 4pm Saturday, there were 13,093 COVID-19 cases reported, of which 7861 were detected from rapid antigen kits and 5226 from PCR tests.Cases have fluctuated over the past week up to a peak of more than 16,000 on Thursday from a low of 8985 on Monday. Today’s cases are up on the 12,850 recorded on Saturday and the 8782 reported last Sunday.
