A senior police officer can make a declaration which allows police to scan people over the course of 12 hours, with an option to extend if required and the same criteria are met. The Act amends the Summary Offences Act 1988 and also includes a new offence into section 11F, prohibiting selling a knife to a child aged 16 or 17 without a reasonable excuse.
