NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller was unable to explain how the COVID-19 laws operate in the state as he defended the force's enforcement of the laws at a parliamentary inquiry.
They raised the case of a 19-year old man who was fined for leaving his home on Friday night after the new laws came into effect.Asked to explain his understanding of the law, Mr Fuller said the restrictions had been relaxed and there was a broad range of excuses for people to leave their homes. He later added: "We know the health orders have been amended and from my perspective the NSW Police have done an outstanding job applying powers in a very difficult situation."
