The New South Wales parliament has resumed for the first time since Premier Gladys Berejiklian won the March election. The red carpet has been rolled out to welcome new members ahead of the opening of the 57th state parliament.

The return of parliament comes as the Labor Party appears no closer to resolving its leadership issues, with former leader Michael Daley quitting following the election loss. The Labor caucus will meet the week after the federal election to determine its new NSW leader, with Kogarah MP Chris Minns the favourite to be elected. Image: News Corp Australia
