New South Wales Labor leader Jodi McKay says the Berejiklian government should apologise for all the serious mistakes made on their part in the Ruby Princess debacle.

The inquiry into the debacle revealed multiple errors contributing to the disaster saying all 2,700 passengers should have been tested for COVID-19 before being allowed to disembark from the ship. “I think the Premier should indicate that she will accept all the recommendations within the report,” Ms McKay told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “It’s time we got an apology.” Image: News Corp Australia

NSW Premier acted 'too slowly' initiating Ruby Princess inquiry | Sky News AustraliaNew South Wales Labor leader Jodi McKay has praised Brett Walker SC for his ability to pull together a report on the ill-fated Ruby Princess despite the “rushed” nature of the Special Commission of Inquiry into the Ruby Princess. \n\nThe findings of the inquiry are due to be handed down today to the NSW government following an investigation into why 2,700 passengers were allowed to disembark the cruise ship in Sydney on March 19 without undergoing coronavirus testing. \n\nMs McKay told Sky News Premier Gladys Berejiklian acted too slowly in launching an investigation into the debacle as she launched a police investigation first. \n\n“That wasn’t going to get to the heart of protocols being breached,” she said. \n\nShe said Labor supported the push for an inquiry as it was “one of the most significant public health episodes that we’ve ever had here in NSW”. \n\n“This is not about necessarily blaming different agencies, it’s about understanding who is responsible and ensuring this never ever happens again,” she said. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia JodiMcKayMP Yes Jodi, at least Brett Walker SC is getting answers and accountability for the Ruby Princess debacle.
