NSW's finances have been bolstered by an extra $400 million, pushing last year's budget surplus over the $1 billion mark

The state's finances have been bolstered by an extra $400 million, pushing last year's budget surplus over the $1 billion mark.

NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet welcomed the better-than-expected budget surplus as a measure of the government's"sound financial management".“This result shows you can deliver sound financial management, budgets firmly in the black, and continue to invest record amounts in infrastructure," Mr Perrottet said. The NSW Generations Fund was created in 2018 as the state's first debt retirement fund. The fund's balance had grown to $10.8 billion as of June 30.

Mr Perrottet said the pipeline of infrastructure projects was adding about half a percentage point to the state's economic growth and "helping employ tens of thousands of people across the state".

LisaVisentin No doubt the extra money will be wasted on unnecessary projects like the Bankstown rail conversion to a metro.

Cool, put into schools and other public services.
