The NSW government 'will hold everybody to account' once the root cause of ongoing and persistent cracking in a Sydney apartment complex is identified

The NSW government"will hold everybody to account" once the root cause of ongoing and persistent cracking in a Sydney apartment complex is identified, Premier Gladys Berejiklian says.

"There was some speculation it could have been from things that happened in the near vicinity but we need to find out the cause before we know how to act," she said. When asked if the NSW government would help displaced residents in the meantime, Ms Berejiklian replied:"We're getting to the bottom of what happened".While the cause of the cracks has not been determined, local MP and former mayor Ron Hoenig noted another apartment tower was recently built next door.

Peak body Engineers Australia said Saturday the state"has been slow to move, but it is not too late if we start now".

Meritons! Cheap crap that you pay a fortune for. Our house in Waterloo almost fell apart, too. Couldnt shut the balcony door anymore because there were massive cracks in the wall where the balcony was attached to the house. Over the M1. I had nightmares of it detaching...

No. 2 building cracked, there will be more to come .... wait and see!

And yet the same government keeps pushing through more and more developments and giving the same developers PUBLIC LAND to build more shitty apartments, the cracks aren’t just appearing in the apartments but their policies too!

This has to stop in all States. Dodgy structures, massive fire risks and more.....not acceptable!

Sick of the government pandering to developers

Ya think?

Verbal diarrhea as usual from these political morons. Nothing will happen.

🤥🤑🤤

Corruption

Oh is that so When have we heard this threat before ? - and nothing done so far on that one too

But the people displaced need desperately accommodation. The Premier must guarantee that!

Yeah sure!

Glads will slap a levy on all the folk of NSW to ensure her mates are protected from having to be held to account. Liberals, socialising costs, privatising profit every single day. auspol

Highly unlikely. They won’t be able to (or won’t want to) pin the blame on anyone. Of course the real blame lies with the LNP who at the urging of their developer mates have deregulated building standards and processes so much that these problems have and will again occur.

Think London or Paris, not Blade Runner, for your Sydney of the futureThe world's smartest cities have been looking to the future for centuries. Sydney will become a better place to live as it transforms around rapid transport. London and Paris have changed quite a bit! pvivian_philip Building new high density residential towers (often replacing business parks, commercial areas or light industry) around metro stations will NOT solve the problem of existing, low density, car dependent suburbia. Sydney's Immigration Metros pvivian_philip Cities are driven by energy. Sydney is facing oil, power and gas shortages. Well-designed, walk-able, energy frugal cities would not have population greater than 140-200 K. Water is also problem. And sea level rise. Do NOT grow this city
