Firefighters have been back-burning through the night to contain a massive blaze before weather conditions deteriorate again.

Firefighters have back burned through the night to get a handle on the massive blaze burning in the Hawkesbury region near Sydney's northwestern outskirts.

Total fire bans are in effect in those areas, as well as the far north coast, on a day that will have temperatures moving into the mid-30s, very low humidity and gusty winds once again.RFS deputy commissioner Rob Rogers says there is every prospect fires in these regions could return to emergency levels.

National parks on the mid-north coast, north coast, and in the northern Blue Mountains remained closed to the public on Saturday morning due to fire danger, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage said.

Hard working good people. But shouldn’t the fire reduction burns had been done during the winter?

Thank God for these wonderful, amazing firefighters. What would we have done without them. Thank you all!

Victory for music festivals as NSW Parliament passes safety lawsThe music festival industry has won its battle against the Berejiklian government over a safety licensing scheme ahead of the busy summer season Well if people engaged their brains and stopped taking substances they have no idea whats in the them and actually engaged their brain over safety then government should not have to do anything - why does the government have to be blamed for everything the public does Let it be a free for all for the druggies. It seems like the authorities are more concerned about raping people than cleaning up the rubbish in the streets.

Russell Crowe’s niece slams ‘bulls**t’ claims actor got special treatment from NSW RFSRussell Crowe’s niece has hit back at claims the actor received preferential treatment from the NSW Rural Fire Service during this week’s bushfire crisis. I would presume the fire fighters have enough to be dealing with without saying to each other 'ooohhh X lives there how about we save that first then we will go next door' the commonsense lacking is some people leaves a lot to be desired But if Crowe didn't ask for the special treatment nor did he expect it but if he was given special treatment (which it sounds like he wasn't) how can Crowe be blamed? This tall poppy / underdog / battler approach to life we have here has gotta stop. I call bs that it ever happened. He wasn’t even in the country. They wouldn’t have known which was his house. Trying to get attention by bringing someone else down is just sick.

'It's a victory for common sense': NSW music festival bill passesNSW parliament has passed a controversial music festivals licensing regime which aims to address concerns about drug use at festivals. The Party of Small Government & cutting red tape! Lol. GladysB wilfully ignoring all of the advise from experts to push her own 1960's 'war on drugs' agenda. If you think your opinion trumps the recommendations from doctors and community experts, then you are an idiot and should be made to retake high school science.
