NSW is set to swelter through another 40-degree plus heatwave for the next to days, with blistering conditions bringing a fresh wave of fire warnings.

This map issued by NSW RFS shows sites across NSW currently affected by bushfires. Picture: Supplied/ NSW RFSBureau of Meteorology acting NSW manager Jane Golding said high temperatures coupled with strong winds are expected to create dangerous conditions.

Thunderstorms, which have the potential to start new fires, are also forecast for a large portion of NSW. Currently, the RFS advises 60 bush and grass fires are burning in NSW, with 21 still to be contained. NSW Energy Minister Matt Kean is asking households and businesses to reduce their load on the state’s electricity grid, especially between 5pm and 9pm.
