Tago is about to put pen to paper on a $3 million extension with the three-time reigning champions, making him one of the highest-paid centres in the competition.

The Penrith Panthers have agreed to terms on a new deal with star centre Izack Tago to keep him at the club until the end of 2028.

It’s slightly more money than the Knights paid to retain Origin centre Bradman Best at the start of the year. Tago is held in high regard at the Panthers, who will now refocus their attention on retaining Taylan May, Sunia Turuva and Mitch Kenny - all off contract at the end of 2024.Canterbury have continued to build their front-row stocks, signing injured Rabbitohs prop Daniel Suluka-Fifita, effective immediately.

The Bulldogs had tried last year to bring in another ex-Roosters prop, Siosuia Taukeiaho, but he failed a medical due to a troublesome knee issue.Melbourne has handed one-game rookie Sua Fa’alogo one of the longest contracts in the NRL, with a healthy upgrade shoring the rising Samoan star up as part of the club’s future.

Reynolds, 33, said he had read a lot about ageing sports stars and how they get the most out of their bodies. He said it was why he felt on top of his game. Reynolds said he wouldn’t rule out playing in 2026, but was more focused on the opportunity at the Broncos this season.
