Round four of the NRL season gave us some of the most lopsided scores in recent memory, and now debate is swirling on whether the new rules are to blame.

The NRL's new rules are back in the spotlight after the most lopsided round in almost 17 years. The average points difference between teams in round four was the most since round 16 in 2004Three teams have a points differential of -100 after four games

Before Monday's game the mark was previously at 205 points for the weekend since the NRL went to 16 teams, set in round 21 of 2013. The Panthers have won matches by 24, 28 and 40 so far this season, with one close match against the Storm. "When you see games where it's tight, they are the games we want to see from a footy fan's point of view."Because I do think the new rules make for a good spectacle. I like seeing the game where smaller people can get an advantage."

Previously, the last team to have a minus-100 for-and-against after four rounds was the 2002 Cowboys.

While it does take time for any rule changes to bed down, some of these are bad changes forced on the NRL by V'landys who has a limited (and possibly poor) knowledge of the game from a playing & coaching perspective. He’s chasing the $ but damaging the product & the players.
