The NRL has issued four players with breach notices for bringing the game into disrepute by disregarding public health orders.
South Sydney's Latrell Mitchell and Melbourne's Josh Addo-Carr have each been handed $50,000 fines, with 60 per cent of that suspended until the end of the season. Penrith player Nathan Cleary and Newcastle's Tyronne Roberts-Davis have been issued with $10,000, with 60 per cent of those also suspended.Acting CEO of the NRL Andrew Abdo said the penalties have been structured in a way to give the players a chance to demonstrate they can abide by the safety measures moving forward.Mitchell, Addo-Carr and Roberts-Davis were yesterday fined 1,000 by NSW Police after images emerged of them on a weekend away with about 10 other men.
Meanwhile, NSW Police has said it is looking into reports that Nathan Cleary broke social-distancing rules on Anzac Day. Socia media photos have emerged of him in close contact with a group of several women, reportedly taken at his home on Saturday.More to come.

Those fines are a joke given the 60% discount! And now the NRL looks to enjoy social freedoms the rest of us cannot during this crisis. I’m all for sports recommencing, but only once the wider community has the same restrictions lifted.
