A fresh report claims the NRL is concerned the AFL could place it under “enormous pressure” by suspending its season today.

Fox Footy host Gerard Whateley said on Monday history will judge AFL boss Gillon McLachlan “harshly” if the league pushes on with the 2020 season.Whateley told SEN Radio“It seems almost every sporting competition around the planet has come to a halt, but the AFL competition is going to spring to life.“How can it be that after we’ve been told to begin measures of social distancing that we’re forging ahead with plans to stage contact sport. It’s too much of a contradiction.

But an extraordinary teleconference of all 1240 AFL and AFLW players on Monday could decide the fate of the 2020 seasons. Some club bosses have told The Age they believe the possibility of no games being played is still in play. “So I would like to think that the decisions that are being made are purely the safest decisions and not based around just getting just a show on for our fans.”

NRL has always been under pressure from the AFL. Aussie rules fans actually go to watch the games unlike the rugby followers. The fan attendance between AFL & NRL is ridiculous.
