‘Not interested’: V’landys shuts down Australia-PNG link as 18th team talks heat up in Brisbane

NRL 2024: Papua New Guinea team won’t be based in Australia, Peter V ’landys, meeting with Australian government, what will happen, NRL expansion, who will be 18th teamARLC Chairman Peter V ’landys has revealed the NRL is against basing a Papua New Guinea team in Australia ahead of the league meeting with the Australian Government on Friday to discuss NRL expansion.

“If you want the people of Papua New Guinea to be engaged, you got to have the team in PNG,” he said in a press conference in Brisbane ahead of Magic Round.“We’re not interested in taking the team to Northern Queensland. The Cowboys do a fantastic job in Northern Queensland and there’s no way we want to affect that area.
