of COVID-19 confirmed in NSW overnight, all of which are in people from the northern beaches
New restrictions that have been introduced across Greater Sydney may be eased on Wednesday if new mystery cases do not emerge outside the northern beachesand the state government will ask for military assistance as it moves to implement tougher measures to protect the state from Sydney's growing COVID-19 clusterVictoria is “not at the point” of creating a hard border between Victoria and all of New South Wales, according to the state's Premier.
“We'll leave no-one in any doubt that if you are from the Greater Sydney area you should not be travelling to Victoria. It is not safe to do that.” People travelling from Greater Sydney, which includes the Blue Mountains and Central Coast, have been told they can no longer enter Victoria from 11.59pm on Sunday, otherwise travellers will be placed in hotel quarantine for 14 days.
“They will apply for as long as they need to. But they will not be lifted in the next couple of days. They will be there for a longer period than that. Exactly how long we can't be certain.” Border communities in both Victoria and NSW are able to travel across the border freely on showing their driver’s licence to police. But Victoria’s testing chief Jeroen Weimar warned there “will be queues”.
