Henry Hammond, who used a tree branch to beat a woman to death in a Melbourne park, has been ordered to spend 25 years in a secure psychiatric hospital.Hammond was in the grips of a schizophrenic relapse when he killed Courtney Herron in 2019Ms Herron's father said the outcome had failed to deliver justice for his daughterVictoria's Supreme Court today committed Hammond to the Thomas Embling Hospital after he was found not guilty of murdering Courtney Herron because of mental impairment.
"It's difficult for someone in Mr Hammond's position to have the resources or the understanding to enliven a review of his own accord," Mr Schocker said. Hundreds of people, including friends and family of Ms Herron, gathered for a silent vigil after her death in 2019.In May last year, Ms Herron and Hammond were walking through Royal Park in the early hours of the morning when Hammond picked up a branch.Hammond, who was homeless at the time, then struck his victim in the face and beat her to death.
Hammond then tied Ms Herron's legs together and dragged her body into a clearing where he covered her with branches, before taking her phone and wallet. He said he believed she had buried his wife alive and that he had finally gotten his "revenge" on her when a tree branch seemingly fell to the ground.
"So the victims are second place and a poor, distant last, is my daughter. So there's no justice for her."

This is rubbish. He should be in jail. Anyone who knows that they should cover a body after killing someone, knows what they’re doing.
Tragic story
I still think am overhaul needs to take place. If you mum someone then you should spend 100 years minus the persons age locked up. As the person who is dead will.miss out on so many things, so should the killer.
Was actually walking through the park that morning and got stopped by the police. Only later heard the news. Such a dam waste of two life’s.
