News Corp senior executives have joined the call for the federal government to examine the laws that govern press freedom in Australia.

It comes after the Australian Federal Police carried out two raids on media within 24 hours.

The home of News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst was raided on Tuesday, in relation to a story about a secret government plan to spy on Australians. The Sydney headquarters of the ABC were raided the next day, in relation to a 2017 investigative journalism series called 'The Afghan Files', which revealed secret Defence Force documents.
