A new coronavirus case in Sydney throws uncertainty over changes to WA's border rules, just days from when the state is supposed to open its doors to travellers from Victoria and New South Wales.

"WA's Chief Health Officer will seek further information from NSW, before providing advice to the Premier," a Government spokesperson said this morning. But that was contingent on New South Wales reaching 28 days of no cases in the community, a threshold it has now fallen short of.

"If there's outbreaks over east we will have to put in place new measures," Mr McGowan said yesterday, before the latest Sydney case was known.Mr McGowan also indicated that an outbreak in either Victoria or New South Wales could halt the reopening in the other jurisdiction too. Advice from WA's Chief Health Officer Andy Robertson released on Tuesday stated the relaxing of rules was "subject to no further community outbreaks" in either state.WA dropped its hard border last month, but was forced to shut the doors on South Australian travellers just a day later after an outbreak in Adelaide.

You don’t have to close borders to mitigate the risk, don’t be so risk adverse!! McGowan doesn’t need any encouragement to to make knee jerk decisions

it starts from ONE case. looks at israel, japan, iceland, qatar, etc..

Just what McGowan wanted. He'll be pleased he can shut the border.

not worth the risk president mcgowan, NSW has never tried to eliminate the virus. the same applies to NZ and SA. they MUST quarantine. don't fuck this up now.
