Under a new $26.8 million package, a new computer-based system will allow people to log on from home for their permits and clear a massive backlog brought on by COVID-19.
The changes will also mean postponed appointments will be refunded, with 80,000 people set to be given their $19 back and new application fees waived."We know it's a milestone event, getting your identification, but also getting behind the wheel for the very first time," Victorian Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said.
"And we want to make sure that we support every young Victorian to get back behind the wheel safely and securely."
