Mr Reece, who has been a councillor since 2016 and Deputy Lord Mayor since late 2020, is the 105th Lord Mayor to serve the City of Melbourne .
With less than four months to go until the next council elections, Mr Reece also declared that he will be"hitting the ground running to deliver the services and infrastructure our community needs and deserves"."I will be a hands-on Lord Mayor. I love fixing things, solving problems, making decisions and making things happen. I will work hard every single day to make life better for the people of Melbourne," Mr Reece said.
An upbeat Mr Reece added that Melbourne's"best days are ahead" and said there were"more shovels in the ground than ever before through our city-shaping projects".
