New laws that will force more abusive partners to wear ankle bracelets will be introduced into State Parliament on Wednesday, WA Attorney-General John Quigley has confirmed. The Liberal Party had accused the Labor government of dragging its heels in May when 7 NEWS revealed only 65 family violence offenders were being tracked under current laws.

When the laws were announced last October, Quigley predicted about 400 offenders would be subject to GPS monitoring as a result. The Opposition is expected to back the changes, but the Liberal Party vote has been split over amendments to a gun crackdown in the wake of the Floreat double murder-suicide.
