abc.net.au/news/marrinawi-cove-barangaroo-swimming-spot-opens-to-public/101836258The state government says it's exploring options for greater public access to swimming in Sydney Harbour, after opening a new area of Barangaroo Reserve to people wanting to have a splash.
Infrastructure, Cities and Active Transport minister Rob Stokes said the government was investigating more options for swimming at Barangaroo."Our city stopped building ocean and harbour pools more than half a century ago — it's past time to provide more great, safe public places to swim," he said. "We'll continue to explore more ways to increase public access to the harbour for swimming and water sports across urban renewal sites including Barangaroo, Blackwattle Bay and Bays West."
"The state government has been testing the water for quite a while before they installed the shark net. It is Sydney Harbour so you're always going to get residue," she said.
Ummm, taken in Pyrmont Bay Park a few weeks ago so I’m not sure I’ll take a swim thanks
SueDeneDaniel RobStokesMP 'invested in cleaning up our harbour from industrial wastelands' Wasteland narrative is used to dump apartment towers everywhere. Don't forget Viva's Gore Hill Fuel Terminal. Without it, Sydney would come to a standstill. Tanker has come from Taiwan!
is mask wearing in the water required?
Pass 💀
Nice idea but one wonders how often it’ll be safe to swim there; pollution is a problem at most inner harbour beaches and not just after rain. I hope it’ll be checked and monitored.
filthy water, sadly imagine the runoff from the streets oozing into the harbour chemical poo soup
