After a chorus of calls to re-vamp Australia's emergency responses in flood emergencies, a new national warning system is coming. 9News

Warnings during storms, floods and tsunamis will continue to be distributed through the NSW SES website, NSW SES social media channels and local ABC radio stations.

NSW SES Commissioner Carlene York said the new approach to warnings will better support communities by providing them with greater clarity."Early warnings save lives. Our new warnings will contain very clear action statements to enable the community to make safe decisions," York said. The NSW SES's new tiers of warning will provide greater consistency as all states and territories gradually transition to the Australian Warning System.

This will help tourists and travellers prepare for potentially dangerous situations while interstate.

‘Time for talking is over’ on raising Warragamba Dam wallHills Shire Mayor Dr Peter Gangemi says the “time for talking’s over” and action is required to raise the Warragamba Dam wall to prevent flooding in the Hawkesbury and Nepean region. 'When it comes to flooding along the Hawkesbury Nepean river, the cost of mitigation will always be less than the cost of recovery in terms of these major floods,” Dr Gangemi told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “We don’t need any more reports – we don’t want to see another flood.” Maybe stop building on flood plains…or would the developers who control local government scream Maybe let some water out. Surely it’s gotta be cheaper in the long run to raise the wall then the repeated bills after repeated flooding
