The decision to award controversial tennis great Margaret Court another Australia Day honour has sparked a fierce outcry..
Chances are yes, both. But I am not going to bother looking through the list and highlighting people who don't deserve to be highlighted at such a controversial moment.If a person's religion is so intolerant as to view gay people as the devil, then it is a religion I want nothing to do with. But if they want to believe it, that is their right.
I don't intend to report in detail again what Margaret Court is alleged to have said. Some of it she did. Some of it she didn't. She denies saying transgender people are "the devil" and she insists although the bible stands against homosexuality she "loves" and supports gay people through her church.
These people deserve their honours and deserve to celebrate them. We cannot interrogate each one on their beliefs and opinions before deciding they are sufficiently politically correct to get the award.
Also isn’t she into conversion of gays?

Margaret Court former world tennis No. 1 achieved excellence in her field winning many grand slam titles and has been rightly acknowledged for this. What have the whiners and moaners complaining achieved for Australia? How many of them are multi-time world No. 1’s at anything?
