Expenditure on the National Disability Insurance Scheme could hit $115 billion per year under an extreme scenario released by the government on Friday.

Expenditure on the National Disability Insurance Scheme could hit $115 billion a year under an extreme scenario released by the government on Friday, with more than 1 million Australians expected to be on the program by 2032.

The NDIA projects the number of NDIS participants will increase to 1,017,522 by 2032, up 90 per cent from 534,655 in June 2022.Disability Minister Bill Shorten said he believed the cost of the scheme was growing too quickly, but hosed down the prospect of changing eligibility criteria or cutting packages.

“Such large upward revisions of $30 billion annually to the central forecast suggests that there has been a big shift in one or multiple drivers of the projections over the past year,” Mr Noura toldAdvertisement The NDIA now expects 1.2 per cent of participants to leave the scheme each year, down from its previous long-term estimate of 1.7 per cent.

“So these numbers are not just NDIA projections – they have effectively been signed off by the Treasury.”

Morrison Gov 2019-22 wanted to make Medicare & NDIS more compliant Albo Labor “How dear you” Doom & Gloom the sky is falling this is an attack on Medicare-NDIS Oct 2022 Albo Labor blames Morrison gov for cost blowouts?

Oct 2022 NDIS rorting cost blowouts $billions NO cap on claims, It’s an open cheque from taxpayers Claims can be for learning to sale a boat or how to have sex with a Prostitute Albo Labor solution to fix it, spend “More Money” on the NDIS?

The NDIS needs to go back to what it was originally designed for. The list of disabilities that it expanded to serve just kept on growing and growing. We need to remember we need to live with in our means and that every dollar that is borrowed need to be paid back.

Bet Bill is not smiling now , Another labour RORT gone ROTTEN, it’s increased alone since labour took office , not one effort to curb the disability industry, even appointed them to manage it ,can u believe that a celebrity as chairman. List of failures of Bill are numerous?

For God sake give the NDIS a chance and stop promoting only extremes; they help no-one

A budget structural problem for Labor to sort out. Actually another one they are responsible for.

Arent we spending $171 billion on 8 nuclear submarines? I guess that's fine and good since it'll protect us from China while the sick and disabled Australians couldn't hurt anyone, right?

Areas of NDIS are “completely milking the system”Psychiatrist Dr Tanveer Ahmed says some of the key messages at an NDIA meeting last week were that the NDIS is “highly subjective” and “often people make enough noise they get more”. “So, there are certain groups that aren’t actually getting what they need and Shorten’s eluded to this, regional areas, some ethnic groups, lower socioeconomic groups,” Dr Ahmed told Sky News host Chris Kenny. “Meanwhile there’s other ways with the NDIS provider in tow that are completely milking the system.” Dr Tanveer said, “we need a bigger debate about what we mean by 'disability'' because the term has become “too loose”. Negative gearing and capital gains tax discount set to cost the budget $20 billion a year within a decadeThe cost of negative gearing is set to more than triple as interest rates rise and, with it, the capital gains tax discount is expected to cost the federal budget more than $20 billion a year within a decade. What a shame this was ignored when Bill Shorten was Opposition Leader at the time of the election. Provided we don't call it welfare, cause that could be construed as some form of socialism....
