The Nationals want to ensure they get the “best possible deal” for regional Australia when it comes to a net zero agreement, says former deputy prime minister John Anderson.

“It needs to be recognised they’re doing the job they’re put there for, they’re testing all of this, they’re teasing it out,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“I want to make this plea to people who say they’re holding back: they want to know that they can secure the best possible deal.” Mr Anderson said a deal needs to include soundly based technology pathways which can provide the energy which is required for Australian farmers to continue to improve their productivity.“It has to be real answers.”

And by 'regional Australia', they mean the Minerals Council.

Why are we even talking net zero It’s insane to even attempt it with current technologies ! You only need to look at Europe and the USA to see the results !!

I feel that in this issue, the most important thing is that we have to change, there is a plan to change, reduce carbon emissions, or even zero emissions are integrated in the future industry chain, not zero emissions and zero emissions

The best deal with whom? And who voted for that

Industries to be shielded in federal bid for net zeroThe government is preparing to reveal its new climate targets and technology road map early next week with a message to industry that there are no “nasties” in the package. CroweDM Some pretty basic questions: Will the emissions target be enough to limit warming to 2 degrees? (Ans: No) Therefore, is it in line with Paris Agreement?
